The winning entry is selected by a transparent numerical method.

No manual selection. No “draw a name from a hat”. A public Bitcoin block hash is used as the random source.

HOW THE BLOCK IS CHOSEN

Before every draw we publish: draw closing date, reference time and block selection rule.

The Bitcoin block used for the draw will be the first Bitcoin block mined after 12:00 midday on the official draw closing date.

The draw closing date itself will always be announced at least 14 days in advance.

THE FORMULA

W = (D mod N) + 1
Wwinning draw entry
Ddecimal number converted from the Bitcoin block hash
Ntotal number of eligible draw entries

EXAMPLE

Assume the draw has:

N = 1,000 eligible entries

The selected Bitcoin block is mined and publishes its hash. That hash is converted into a decimal number:

D = 847392847239847239847239847239...

Now we calculate:

D mod 1000 = 427

Then:

W = 427 + 1 W = 428

Result:

Winning draw entry = #428

the future hash cannot be predicted
the future hash cannot be changed
everyone sees the same hash
everyone can verify the calculation independently

VERIFICATION

After the draw we will publish: selected Bitcoin block, exact block hash, total eligible entries and final calculation.

Any member can independently verify the result.
